6 P's Assignment
In Jenkins reading of Shall We Play, there are 6 P's these include, Permission, Process, Passion, Productivity, Participation, and Pleasure. Permission is essentially that there is this concept of a "magic circle", that is, "A mental bracket which we put around our activities which changes their affect, their meaning, and most of all their consequences. Process is essentially how the play occurs. Passion entails that what they are doing they should enjoy, or have a passion for. Play should be "open-ended, free flowing, self-determined, and thus as something which is experienced as a site of freedom and passion". Productivity is that there is something coming out of the play, there is something productive, essentially there is learning within our play. Participation is in the word, we should be able to participate in the fun whether it is watching or doing what ever is categorized as "play" for us. Pleasure is essentially the byproduct of play, it may be important to play structured games but it is also extremely important to give people and young people the freedom to play in an open-ended and free way with not a lot of limitations.
During my play, I went apple picking at Dame Farm and Orchards with my best friend. This was something I had not done in a very long time and it made me very happy because it made me feel like a kid again. The 6 P's are tied into my play in all different ways. Permission is tied into my play because I had to follow the rules of the Orchard and if I did not then I would be asked to leave. Process is tied into my play because I had to follow a process to have the product happen, I had to inspect the apples, pick the apples, and walk around the orchard. Passion is tied in because fall is my favorite season and I wanted to do something that was very fall-ish for my play so Apple Picking seemed like the right way to go. Productivity is tied in because I was strengthening a bond with a friend, picking apples, and creating new memories. Participation is tied in because I was actively picking the apples. Pleasure is tied in completely because I was happy since I was stress free and I was completely immersed in the apple picking experience.

That is so cool you went to Dame Farm and Orchards for apple picking! I've always wanted to go there!
